It depends a bit on where you live, but it is never OK to put sharps containers in the regular trash, even if the container is sealed. Your sharps containers are considered medical waste and disposing of them improperly can cause you to be fined heavily.Call your local waste management department . . they can direct you as to how to properly dispose of your sharps containers.
