If your wife is leaking fluid, she needs to call her doctor, it could mean that he water has broken. It isn't always a gush and may just trickle out. They will need to check this because once your water has broken she and the baby are more susceptible to infection. Also, if she is having 4 or more contractions an hour, she should also call her doctor or go to the hospital, as labor may be beginning or progressing.Since she is 34 weeks, it would be considered preterm labor, and at this point, as long as her water has broken, they will medically intervene to try and stop it. A pregnancy isn't considered full term until you reach 37 weeks.I delivered my first son at 35 weeks, due to the fact that my water had broken. He was perfectly healthy (weighed 7lbs 6oz.), but she should definitely contact her doctor to see how he/she would like to proceed at this point. Also at this point in pregnancy, if her contractions are still irregular they are most likely just Braxton-Hicks, which can be either uncomfortable or even start to hurt the later you are in pregnancy since the body is practicing for the real thing.Good luck!
