38 weeks pregnant, SHARP pains in vagina, what are they?!?

I always thought the sharp pains were just the normal pains of you dilating and getting ready for birth. But last night, geez I must have gotten 25-30 in an hour! And they are really painful, they make me jump every time and its only when baby is moving. Is that what the pains are? Why so often!

I get really sharp very painful pains like that too --- I am fairly positive it's the baby kicking or punching something down there inside that makes it hurt...

Yes , those sound like braxton hicks like i had. i am now pregnant with my 4th baby but always around 35-37 weeks i start with that horrible pains. The only good news for you is this means your body is getting ready for the big day. Don't be surprised if your next week exam they tell you that your 2-3 cm dilated. Hopefully you'll have fast births like me. My first baby was born in 1hr and 12 minutes.Just remember listen to your body even if this is your first time don't let anyone tell you how your feeling.
