Well first you need a wacom tablet, or cintique. If you just have a mouse, you won't have the pressure sensitivity to make that feature you speak of, happen.
Second, click on the brushes menu. At the top right of the menu, there should be a tiny arrow pointing down. Click on it. Another window should open. Somewhere in that window there should be a list that says, " Small Thumbnail, Large Thumbnail, Small List, Large List, & Stroke Thumbnail." Click on "Stroke Thumbnail". That should show you the shape of the brush that your talking about.
Now simply click on that brush, and your done. Now paint with it.
