Default Is it normal to have sharp pains in the spleen 5 months after having mono?

I had mono during the summer, and since then I have had intense pains in my spleen/abdomen area. I've had blood work to check my platelets, an ultra sound and such exams.. and the doctors haven't found anything yet. Any idea what this could be..?

I take it your physician was checking for an enlarged spleen, which does occur in nearly half of all mononucleosis cases. An upper abdominal pain like this is a pretty elusive thing to diagnose. There could be a number of things wrong, with the most prominently diagnosed condition (after enlarged spleen) being a muscle pull. This is a cop-out for medical practitioners, seeing as this pain should dissipate fairly quickly. Be wary of your problem, sir, because if your spleen ruptures, it could mean serious (if not fatal) blood loss. Certainly stay away from any extreme physical activity such as weightlifting, contact sports, etc. My advice: actively pursue a diagnosis, and don't take a muscle pull as an answer.
