Why does the cowboy's ***** have a sharp discus behind it?

Do you mean a Cowboy boot? If so are you talking about the spurs that are worn on the back of the boot.If its a spur the reason they are round is to protect the horse. A spur is used to prod a horse into moving or going faster.Not to confuse you more but their are pieces of metal that hang from the spur in the back to make a clinking sound like you hear in cowboy movies and those are called jingle-bobs. hope this helps.

Your posted question changed some when I clicked on answer, revealing #39 in addition. The discus is most likely what used to be spurs for jabbing the horse. They are called 'Boots'
