Default Recurring sharp pain in the back of skull, behind the right ear.?

My wife is 31 yrs, non-smoker, non-drinker, and no history of headaches. She is experiencing acute, sharp pains on the back of her head a couple of inches behind her right ear. She is not a complainer, so I am concerned! This pain has been an 8 out of 10 and recurs about every 5 minutes or so, and then goes away completely until it returns again. It's been a few days now, and the pain isn't as bad today (3/10).

We went to the ER on Friday 12/26 and had a CT scan and blood work, both showed up fine. I'm still concerned. Could this be an early sign of an aneurysm or tumor or other serious condition? Or is this just a variation of migraine headache? The docs were unsure.

Thanks,

sorry to hear your wife is in pain. if the docs, who have training and have actually seen and examined your wife and run tests and all, aren't sure whats wrong, then its highly unlikely that anyone on here will be able to shed any light. i hope she feels better soon.

This sounds exactly like the pain that I have been suffering with for the past 35 years. My father and grandfather had the same type of pain. I have been to many doctors and neurologists and have tried many medications. They don't know what causes it but they know it's not a migraine, it's not cluster headaches, and it's not from tension or sinus problems. I currently take the Tylenol Arthritis Strength Pain Reliever for it. Take the tylenol at the very first sign of the pain. Don't let it get too bad before you take it. I wish there were a way to talk to your wife because I've never met anyone that had these types of pains other than my family. My pains occur every few seconds, and last at least a week. The pain for me is a 10 on the chart. Almost more than I can stand. I wish your wife the best. Good luck to you.
