I am 19 years old and ever since i was about 17 i have had these really sharp chest pains where my heart is and when i get them its kind of hard to move..but i only have them about once every other month.what does this mean and is there anything i can do do help it??im pretty healthy also i try in workout every other day and i stay in shape.

it never hurts to go to the doctor and get it checked out, especially when you're dealing with chest pains. even though you're young and in shape, there is still a possibility that the underlying cause is some sort of heart problem. good luck!

It's probably something called costalchondritis. That's a n inflammation of one of the connections between your ribs and sternum. It might flare up every so often and be a sharp pain just like you described. Next time you see your doc ask him. There's usually nothing you can do about it.
