What is this sharp shocking pains in vagina @ 35 weeks?

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and the other day while I was laying on the LazyBoy, I felt this sharp electric shocking pain go up my vagina. It was a little uncomfortable that it made my body squirm when it happened. It lasted for a few seconds and then maybe a minute later, another sharp shocking pain happened again. Is it my body getting ready for labor? Is it my baby softening the cervix? Please let me know. Thank you!

I am 37 weeks and getting the same thing. I still dont know what it is but i am assuming its just the body preparing, or the baby headbutting the cervix!

I am only 22 weeks and yesterday I experienced the exact pain you are describing!! I wondered what it was. It was very shocking and extremely painful. I think it is the pelvis expanding but not sure. I'm sort of glad to hear that I'm not the only one. I wasn't sure if something was wrong or not.
