i have a ciphone 3g sharp its a iphone clone its a gsm phone why would it say no...

...service when i enter my sim? i have t-mobile service and once i put my sim into the ciphone it says searching and then it says no service its a gsm and it supports 1900 mhz any ideas why does it say searching then no service???im in usa
