Default 11 weeks pregnant and woke up with sharp pain in right side?

About half way between my right hip and bottom rib I've been getting intermittent sharp almost stabbing type pains on my right side about twice an hour. They come and go very quickly but it's still quite uncomfortable at times. Has anyone else had this? Any idea what it is?

I've had no spotting or cramping or abdominal or back pain. And I haven't been strenuously exercising or anything (actually I haven't really been exercising at all because it had been making me throw up...lol) so it's not one of those 'oh I ran to far too fast cramp/pain things' (although this is the same spot pretty much where such a pain would occur).

This is my first baby so I'm still trying to figure out what's normal and what's not. I called the doctor, but they don't get in the office for a few more hours, so in my impatience, I wanted to ask all of you :-)

Any help is appreciated, thank you so much!

Sounds totally normal - Round Ligament Pains.

Those ligaments that support your growing uterus can become stretched and strained, and can be irritated when you move around. I remember having huge ones, they are sharp, scary pains but completely normal. I always found I would have a belly growth spurt after a round of these.. they would last for a few days and then people would start telling me I popped. They lasted for most of my pregnancy, but started around 11 weeks like you.

One word of caution.. the appendix is on the right side. If it continues or gets worse ask your doctor, bring it up at the next appt. (also, if you notice worsening pain, fever, etc go to emergency in case)

Congrats and all the best.

It's probably just stretching and that, drink water and lay on your side and relax if you have any bleeding or it gets worse call your doctor or go in. But I had this around that time too and I believe I was just stretching.
