Default Is sharp pain in leg rooted to back pain in reality?

I suffer from sharp pain in my feet sometimes. Specially the arch and ankle. I dont have sprain or anything, nor have i pulled any muscles. But i read somewhere, if you have a chronic back pain, or herniated disc then your feet or sometimes leg can have pain. I have Xrayed my back, the bones are fine. I am going for an MRI Scan next week. How true is this theory i dont know.

Some of it is true. The nerves exit from the spine and travel down your legs. If you have a disc herniation or some other form of compression in the spine that is squeezing the nerves, then the pain can travel down your legs, even as far as the ankles and feet. Other places of compression of nerves can involve the knee and the ankle itself, it's called 'tarsal tunnel', sort of like carpal tunnel in the wrist and hand.

Exactly what it is.. Herniated disk. Or, a pinched nerve, which a herniated disk can cause as well. It makes sense if you think about it. Your nerves run all down your body, so if it's pinched, it's going to effect every where where the nerve goes.
