Default Sharp pain in left side of chest?

I'm 25 yrs old, Over the past few years i've had a handful of episodes where I get a sudden, very sharp pain on the left side of my chest. It's very painful when I move but I normally have to take a deep breath which makes it even more painful but that makes it go away. I had it happen yesterday at my new job, it suddenly came on and i could hardly move my left arm for the pain, I did my best to grin and bear it so not to cause a fuss, after numerous attempts of deep breaths it wouldn't go away & was so sharp , but could only be felt when i took a deep breath or moved my left side too much.It lasted 7 hours, I tried running, push ups & taking my tight bra off. Nothing worked & it eventually went away on its own. I had no other symptoms & this morning I picked my daughter up on that side when it happened again but stopped when i put her down & i haven't felt it since. What could be causing it?

i have this too... its proberly precordial catch syndrome (PCS) :but doctors dont know what triggers it although some say things like heavy or irregular breathing or even posture could play some type of role in bringing about an episode of PCS.most think its a result of a pinched nerve somewhere.my doctor said it was gas :si dont belive it...but its not dangerous so dont worry.although your one of 7 hours is a looong time to get it...i usually only get it for a few mintues. ask your doctor...because there are tablets for it if its severe.hope this helps a bit

I had something similar to that my sophomore year of high school. every time i made a sudden move, laughed, sneezed or coughed i had a insanely sharp pain on the left side of my chest. i went to the the doctor and i had inflammation due to the fact i was anemic and i wasn't getting enough iron. I still get them sometimes but not as intense as they use to be.But you should definitely see a doctor, chest pain should be taken very seriously.

Go to your doctor girl - don't dawdle about it. you may have a chest infection or inflammation & need antibiotics. If you can't get an urgent appointment - get to your local A&E. You shouldn't ignore it, not with a little one to think of. Hope you are ok at moment.

You need to see a Doctor and get it checked out.It doesn't sound like a Heart condition, (the pain you get from most conditions isn't sharp and they don't go away in the way you describe or last 7 hours) but it isn't possible for anyone even with Medical training to tell you what it is, without a full examination. It's even possible that it's coming from somewhere like your gall bladder, or a trapped nerve. I had similar sounding pain from one.Don't take chances, make an appointment!

There is a good chance that it is a condition known as Pleurisy. For more info go to :www.lung.ca/diseases/pleurisy/html

I am not a medical professional, but it sounds like a pinched nerve to me. I would recommend getting some medical treatment asap though in case it is something more serious.
