to add RAM to my Dell Dimension 4600?

The answer is no, but you can try. The memory in your P300 is runnin at 266MHz and the memory for the dell is 333MHz or 400Mhz. It might work, but I wouldn't want to try, because if it DOES work, it'll slow down your computer.

YES, because both PCs are using ddr-sdram. In case they do not have the same speed, BIOS will just synchronize the speeds to that of the slowest.The performance gain from the increase in system RAM could outweigh the slight reduction in memory speed. Memory speed difference would hardly be noticeable in web surfing, office applications, downloading and MP3 playing. It may be noticeable in games but overall performance of games would still depend more on the graphics card.
