If you are an existing customer, you can change to a new phone even if your contract is not up and it's called an upgrade. You should be able to get discounts and not be required to pay full price. If you go to buy from the kiosks in a shopping mall instead of going to T-mobile stores or dealers, you could negotiate for a bigger rebate.
