Default Verizon internet really sucks, please help me before I have to switch back to...

...comcast again? I plug the ethernet in and it works fine. It's a Westell 7500 modem and we finally got it to work with my boyfriend's Compaq about an hour ago. Their tech support is absolutely the worst. The bullshit I have had to put up with tonight is so infuriating. My computer works perfectly fine, my airport works on every network I have ever tried to connect it to. So to tell me it's my computer and to call Mac is really only making me yell at the little weasel more. I can find the connection and I enter the password and it says there's an error. Someone help, the woman who was actually being helpful told me the modems have encryption problems but then the call got dropped and I had to talk to the weasel who informed me that Verizon is perfection and she was wrong. If I call Mac they are going to laugh at me and say internet services always blame them. I have a MacBook Pro 10.4.11 that works wonderfully so please help before things get thrown at the brick wall on my patio.I ran the software. I have actually run it multiple times. I have unplugged and replugged. I have cycled it. Unplugged it all and replugged it all. It works perfectly with my boyfriends computer.

Haha.Well, you could either go to the control panel and reconfigure your wireless adapter (although you hinted that wasn't the problem.)Or you could purchase another modem because to be frank, I have never heard of Westell, which means it's probably ghetto.

do you have fios? how about router?i assume you installed the software first before connection the router isnt?if not, uninstall the software that comes with your router AFTER disconnection your router.then install the software first then connect the router.also, try unplugging the power cord of your router, affter about 10 sec, plug it in again. try THE LAST STEP ONLY on your modem if you dont have a routerif you dont have router, call their tech support again. i believe they can tell you in their side if their nodes/service is having some problems.

In general Verizon SUCKS.The problem may be that since your boyfriends computer works and yours does not, Verizon may be one of those ISP's that lock access down by the MAC address.Most routers have an option to 'CLONE' the MAC address but this will need to be done on your B/F's computer, the router will detect his MAC address and then set clone it.Give that a try and see if it works.Good Luck to ya
