I can only base it on my FIOS experience and previous experiences.ReliabilityI dial-in to work all the time using VPN. It is important that the connection is stable. Previously using Comcast Cable and DSL, that link would drop periodically. I have had FIOS for 4 months now and it clearly much more reliable.Cable would go down all the time, DSL was much better, FIOS hasn't gone down yet. Down, meaning no signal from the provider and having to call tech-support.Speed:FIOS: I have 20Mbps/5Mbps. It's the fastest I have had so far.I tried the business Comcast that was 12Mbps/3Mbps...but much more expensive.I can max download at about 2.5megabytes/sec and upload around 600Kilobytes/sec....that's fast.Hardware:You need to have a big FIOS box put in your house that contains the hardware and a backup UPS. It's not as trivial as a cable hookup or DSL connection. FIOS can also be used for your phone (as I do) which actually provides very clear transmissions. I don't have FIOS TV, but if you do, you will need a box (like digital cable) for each TV. That means wiring up the house. It's new technology, which requires new everything in the house.I live in central NJ and it's very new here.
